Monday around 11am

There was a peaceful AG held in the beautiful courtyard of Sorbonne Nouvelle Unviersity in th golden October light. It was held to discuss how we could come together to support the highschoolers in the banlieules, who had been striking last week to urge the goverment to increase funding to their schools. The president of the univercity, … promptly called the SRS- the riot police. Just the mere presence of riot police on a univeristy campus for a meeting between students is already enough to have crossed the line in terms of the legitimacy of the actions of the admisitration. But the nightmarish violence which was to follow throughout the week was frankly apocolyptic. The fact that this level of violence was perpetrated against children throughout Paris- in the city where hundreds of yearsr ago the Declaration of Human Rights was composed, is unthinabkle and difficult to porcess that it has taken my the week to come to my senses and write.
